SAN DIEGO IMAGING CHOOSES AMICAS AS TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATION FOR NEW HIGH TECHNOLOGY IMAGING CENTER
Expansion of existing relationship to include PACS, RIS and document imaging for complete filmless and paperless workflow
Boston, MA, April 10, 2006 /PRNewswire/ - AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, today announced that San Diego Imaging (SDI) has chosen AMICAS as their information technology partner for their new state-of-the-art imaging center. AMICAS’ Vision Series RIS and Vision Series Document Management will complement Vision Series PACS, which is already deployed at Children’s Hospital of San Diego where the SDI radiologists practice.
SDI, the third largest radiology group in California, is comprised of 33 radiologists and has provided diagnostic and interventional medical imaging services to San Diego for 35 years. SDI staffs 5 hospitals and 4 outpatient imaging centers, and is part of Children’s Hospital and Health Center. SDI’s new imaging center, located near Children’s Hospital, will be completely digital and feature the latest in diagnostic imaging technology.
"Our relationship with AMICAS started at Children’s Hospital of San Diego over a year ago," said Dr. Mel Senac, SDI Pediatric Radiologist and Director of Radiology for Children’s Hospital. "Our experience with AMICAS’ PACS and the AMICAS Insight Solutions team was so positive that choosing AMICAS technology as the foundation for our new facility was an easy decision to make."
"At SDI, we look for partners, not just vendors that are interested in selling and moving on. AMICAS continually takes the time to truly understand our needs and consistently delivers solutions that really make a difference in our imaging business. This is what sets them apart and, combined with their excellent technology, is why we continue to partner with them," said Mr. Rick Padelford, Executive Vice President for SDI.
AMICAS Vision Series Document Management (VSDM) will provide paperless operations at every step in the imaging process, from patient check–in, to technologist imaging, to radiologist interpretation, and ultimately to medical billing. At every step in the imaging process, VSDM is expected to be tightly integrated with the Vision Series RIS and PACS to ensure maximum productivity. "AMICAS’ Document Management pulls the entire process together as documents and patient information cards are a constant in every aspect of an imaging center’s operations." added Mr. Padelford.
"We believe that the full AMICAS solution set will provide SDI the digital infrastructure to achieve their goal of maximum productivity and efficiency in a state-of-the-art outpatient imaging center," said Peter McClennen, president of AMICAS. "As outpatient reimbursement is continually tightened, achieving high levels of productivity and efficiency through automation is a key enabler to deliver high quality, low cost services. We expect that SDI will be an excellent example of a premium imaging environment that is all digital and tremendously efficient."
San Diego Imaging is scheduled to open in early fall 2006.
