AMICAS and Heartlab Bridge Cardiology and Radiology PACS Gap
AMICAS RealTime Worklist Enables Enterprise Access to Cardiology and Radiology Images

RIDGEFIELD, CT, November 22, 2004 /PR Newswire/ -- AMICAS Inc., a leader in Web-based image and information management, and Heartlab, Inc., the world’s leading designer and supplier of digital image and information networks for cardiology, today announced the signing of a co-marketing agreement to provide healthcare consumers PACS solutions which integrate access to both cardiology and radiology diagnostic images and reports. Historically, digital access to each of these sets of images and reports has been restricted to each of the individual constituent groups. However, the advent of scalable enterprise solutions, the desire to integrate and extend technology investments, and the goal to provide anywhere access to any image, has driven healthcare consumer demand for radiology and cardiology PACS integration. Integration is achieved between AMICAS Vision Series™ PACS and Heartlab Encompass™ cardiology PACS, through AMICAS RealTime Worklist™. Enterprise access to on-demand cardiology and radiology images and reports is provided via a real-time, status-based, personalized workflow tool for all imaging users. In real-time, without the need for any user query, AMICAS RealTime Worklist provides enterprise workflow that lists, by color-coded status, all of the available radiology and cardiology studies for a given patient with visibility across a virtual archive. From a single click within AMICAS RealTime Worklist, the user may then launch the Heartlab Encompass or AMICAS’ Vision viewer to gain access to the full suite of image manipulation tools appropriate to the specific study type.

“Heartlab has an outstanding reputation in cardiology PACS, which is complimentary to the leading technology and services AMICAS customers expect,” said AMICAS president Hamid Tabatabaie. “Now the islands of radiology and cardiology images have been bridged through RealTime Worklist, providing anywhere access with enterprise workflow, extending our customers’ PACS investments.”

“We are excited to have the opportunity to extend Heartlab’s leadership position in cardiology information management systems by working together with AMICAS to bring best-of-breed solutions to the unified cardiology/radiology enterprise,” Heartlab CEO Robert Petrocelli said.
