NATIONAL NETWORK OF 24 DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CENTERS IMPLEMENTS AMICAS® VISION SERIESTM RIS & PACS
Legacy information technology replaced with AMICAS Web-based solutions to drive enhanced patient care, productivity and service to referring physicians for MIDI, LLC

Boston, MA, November 17, 2005/PRNewswire/ - AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, announced that MIDI, LLC, a national network of 24 diagnostic imaging centers headquartered in Virginia, will deploy AMICAS® Vision SeriesTM RIS & PACS at each of its locations beginning December 2005. MIDI, which operates its centers under the name of Open Advanced MRI (OAMRI), has seven centers in the Portland, Oregon metro area, 14 in Illinois, two in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and one in Bethesda, Maryland. Expansion plans include near-term acquisitions and construction of new centers.

"Our business plan calls for significant growth, and AMICAS, with their fully Web-based technology, is the only provider that could expand with our needs and meet the ever changing requirements of our distributed imaging and workflow needs," said Mike Sloniewsky, Open Advanced MRI's Chief Operating Officer. "We wanted our RIS & PACS from the same provider, and with such a geographically dispersed operation, Web-based technology was a must to drive efficiency and productivity. When you look at the vendor market, there are very few that focus specifically on the imaging center needs while offering fully Web-based solutions."

"OAMRI has very complex needs with operations in multiple states. Their model of a central data center in Chicago, with distributed imaging operations across the country, represents a great opportunity to showcase AMICAS' Vision Series technology," said Peter McClennen, president of AMICAS. "AMICAS Vision Series provides a centralized IT system architecture for redundancy and integration, and allows regional facilities to have the specificity and independence of their particular markets."

"I am certain that AMICAS PACS will provide significant service enhancements to help solidify relationships with current referring practices and will benefit OAMRI's internal staff," said Rick Hatch, VP of Marketing for Open Advanced MRI. "There are aspects of the AMICAS system that other vendors simply cannot match. The RIS component will help OAMRI's front office staff become more efficient in the way they handle patients and will provide one more source of information to drive marketing and sales decisions. With AMICAS Vision Series, a patient or physician's office in Portland can call any of OAMRI's seven regional locations to schedule an appointment, without having to worry if he or she has the correct number."

The AMICAS Imaging Dashboard™ will enable OAMRI to provide subspecialty radiology, regardless of where the study was performed or where the radiologist is located. "This is tremendous for both the staff and the radiologists," said Sloniewsky. "In the past, staff had to guess-albeit not always successfully-where to route digital studies; and radiologists often had to physically travel to multiple locations to read analog films. This was vastly inefficient, and didn't allow us to fully leverage the expertise of our physicians. AMICAS Vision Series will translate into faster report turnaround, increased referring physician satisfaction, and a marked increase in radiologist productivity. AMICAS will no doubt help MIDI become the imaging provider of choice in each of our geographic markets."
