INGHAM REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER GOES FILMLESS AND PAPERLESS IN 90 DAYS WITH AMICAS® VISION SERIES™ PACS
Broad use of Vision Series PACS results in significantly improved report turnaround time and significant improvements in patient care
Boston, MA, October 25, 2005 /PRNewswire/ - AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, today announced that Ingham Regional Medical Center (IRMC) in Lansing, Michigan has successfully transitioned to a filmless and paperless environment using AMICAS® Vision Series™ PACS.
IRMC, a 450+ bed, university-affiliated teaching hospital performs over 150,000 studies per year with 12 radiologists. Since the go-live of the system, just 90 days after implementation, IRMC has achieved a completely digital radiology environment with filmless and paperless operation.
"Many of the daily frustrations we used to deal with in the film world have been completely eliminated with the implementation of the AMICAS PACS system," said Dr. Thomas Archambeau, Radiologist-in-Chief at IRMC. "No more lost films, missing film jackets or incorrect loading of the film alternators. This is a tremendous improvement in our working environment."
According to Dr. Archambeau, IRMC radiologists have customized their workflow using the AMICAS RealTime Worklist™, a built-in feature of Vision Series PACS. "We all love it," he said. "Now the radiologists know exactly what's waiting to be read. The fact that we are now both filmless and paperless allows us to more efficiently manage our workload from any remote location - including home. Report turnaround time is now measured in minutes rather than hours."
"The broad use of AMICAS Vision Series PACS by Ingham Regional Medical Center really displays the power and flexibility of the system," said Peter McClennen, president of AMICAS, Inc. IRMC referring physicians, who now have immediate access to study results and voice clips of the radiologists' findings, express tremendous support of the new AMICAS system. Dr. Archambeau notes that ICU and ED physicians, especially, appreciate no longer having to wait for results. "This in turn provides for more timely reaction to patient conditions, which translates to better care," said Dr. Archambeau. "Clearly, AMICAS Vision Series PACS has resulted in significant improvements in our diagnostic radiology practice, and I highly recommend AMICAS to any hospital or radiology group looking to implement or upgrade their PACS."
