AMICAS Migrations Introduced to Meet Sizable Demand For Replacement PACS
Vision Series™ Solutions Take Center Stage at MUSE, RBMA and SCAR, Highlighted by Demonstration of Acclaimed Vision Series PACS v4.1
Boston, MA, May 31, 2005 /PRNewswire/ - AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, announced today the introduction of AMICAS® Migrations powered by DeJarnette (www.dejarnette.com) to fulfill the increasing need for replacement PACS, and the migration of legacy PACS to modern architectures. AMICAS estimates 15-25% of PACS buyers are seeking replacement PACS solutions. The smaller segment of this market is pursuing migration to modern PACS architectures from their mini-PACS or teleradiology systems that no longer serve their needs, while the larger segment of this market is replacing their legacy PACS installations that have ended their useful life.
At the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) annual meeting June 5-8 in Orlando, Florida (AMICAS Booth 119), PACS buyers will experience the total replacement PACS solution: expert turnkey PACS migration by DeJarnette combined with AMICAS' best-in-class Vision Series™ PACS and top ranked AMICAS Insight Solutions™ (KLAS PACS Perception Report 2005 and KLAS End of Year 2004 PACS Report, respectively, www.healthcomputing.com). This combined offering comprises a customized migration solution of finely tuned software, hardware and services crafted for each customer's explicit needs. The flexibility of DeJarnette migrations, proven at over a dozen healthcare institutions, and acclaimed AMICAS Vision Series PACS, offers migrations that can be implemented in bulk or ad hoc approaches, including reports, images, and most importantly, database cleanup, all verified and validated prior to migration.
In addition to SCAR, AMICAS will be exhibiting Vision Series PACS at the 2005 International Medical Users Software Exchange (MUSE) conference in Las Vegas, Nevada (AMICAS Booth 610, May 31-June 3), as well as at the 2005 Radiology Business Management Association's (RBMA) Radiology Summit also being held in Las Vegas (AMICAS Booth 207). At each conference, Vision Series PACS version 4.1 will be demonstrated with numerous new features, highlighted by the following new capabilities of the LightBeam™ Diagnostic Workstation: advances in large data set review including enhancements in our web based 3D MIP/MPR module, a new Target Review tool and new navigation method for rapidly paging through large image series, exclusive Vision Watch™ application management with study-status awareness, and enhanced RealTime Worklist™ filtering.
"Over the next 10 days, AMICAS will be exhibiting at three major industry conferences at the core of our business: MUSE for acute care MEDITECH users seeking PACS, RBMA for imaging centers and radiology group practices seeking integrated RIS, PACS and Billing solutions, and SCAR, the premier PACS meeting for both ambulatory and acute care facilities. We're pleased to introduce AMICAS Migrations to each of these market segments, addressing a large PACS user community that is eager to move beyond their existing, restrictive PACS, to a Web-based PACS platform over which they can exert real control. AMICAS looks forward to delivering them not only our renowned products and services, but also the liberating migration they are seeking," said Peter McClennen, AMICAS' president and COO.
