AMICAS Displays Broad Market Appeal With Significant Wins in Health Systems, Community Hospitals and Imaging Centers
Significant sales in MEDITECH hospitals and replacement of legacy PACS continue market push
Boston, MA, May 2, 2005 /PRNewswire/ -- AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, announced today that the first quarter of 2005 closed with continued market penetration into ambulatory care settings as well as sales into several prestigious, large MEDITECH accounts and community hospitals. These new customer wins reinforce the value of AMICAS' Vision Series offerings, specifically tailored for community hospital and ambulatory environments, which we believe has been historically underserved by competing solutions. Additionally, AMICAS has experienced an increase in customers requesting migration of legacy PACS solutions, signaling a possible developing market for PACS replacement.
Affinity Health System, one of Wisconsin's largest health systems and a subsidiary of Ministry Health Care has chosen AMICAS Vision Series PACS for three hospitals and 17 clinics. "The AMICAS Vision Series PACS was a great choice for Affinity due to its ability to integrate to our existing IT environment including full image integration to our MEDITECH EMR," said Will Wieder, CIO of Affinity Health System in Menasha, Wisconsin. Ministry Health is a network of hospitals, clinics and other healthcare organizations operating across the central, northern, and northeastern regions of Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota. Ministry has a total of 1,104 beds and performs over 350,000 annual radiological studies. Of important note, Affinity is one of the largest MEDITECH EMR (called "PCI") installations in the US.
Some additional significant customer relationships signed during the first quarter of 2005 include:
- Mercy Medical Center (Baltimore, Maryland)
Mercy Medical Center's existing PACS will be replaced with Vision Series PACS, enhancing the delivery of image management across Mercy's busy 160,000 study/year enterprise. The hospital utilizes MEDITECH HCIS for information technology operations in its 211-bed facility.
- Bozeman Deaconess Hospital (Bozeman, Montana)
AMICAS is replacing a modality-based PACS and teleradiology system at Bozeman Deaconess with Vision Series PACS. A MEDITECH Magic institution, Bozeman Deaconess will provide enterprise access to images and reports via MEDITECH PCI. Bozeman Deaconess is an 87-bed institution, performing over 80,000 annual imaging studies.
"AMICAS continues to address the needs of the image and information management marketplace, which is demanding state-of-the-art yet simple solutions", said Peter McClennen, AMICAS' president. "Our ability to meet the broad needs of the market ranging from large integrated health networks like Affinity Health System to community hospitals such as Bozeman Deaconess speaks to the flexible design and broad market appeal of Vision Series PACS. In the replacement market, the complexities of past systems are no longer required. Both new and experienced PACS buyers are seeking systems that require less support, focus on workflow and improve the experiences of their internal and external customers. AMICAS Vision Series delivers on all of these critical requirements. "
